Mission
The mission of the 68th TMC’s OIG is to inquire into and periodically report on matters affecting mission performance and the state of discipline, efficiency, morale, economy, readiness, and esprit-de-corps of the 68th TMC’s community and to perform other duties as may be required by law and regulation or as directed by the Commanding General.
What We Do -
Assistance: Receive, inquire into, & respond to complaints, requests for information, requests for help.
Inspections: IG inspections are focused on “the system”. We look for the root cause of a deficiency and share innovative ideas.
Investigations: Fair & impartial fact finders. We are not on a particular “side”, but advocate for the Standard. We look into allegations of wrong doing: violation of a regulation, law, or policy.
Teach & Train: Explain Standards to those who seek assistance. We also provide Collective (unit) training or Individual (Command team) training.
Who Can Use The IG?
ANYONE! Soldiers, Family Members, DA Civilians, Local Nationals, Private Citizens. This office turns no one away, but not all cases are appropriate for IG resolution. There may be another form of redress, or we may refer to another agency such as:
- Courts-martial actions
- NJP decisions
- Evaluations / Relief for Cause
- FLIPLS
- EO complaint
- Release of PII
- Adverse information in personnel record
- Type of separation pending/received
- Civilian personnel issues
What To Expect -
1.Download and fill out a DA Form 1559
2. We will ask:
- Have you given your chain of command a chance to address the problem?
- What do you want the IG to do for you
- Have you already requested help from other sources or agencies?
- Do you have any relevant, supporting documentation?
- Do you consent for us to use your name to look into the issue?
Keep In Mind -
Be honest. Don’t provide false information. IGs will discover the truth quickly in most cases, and there are penalties for knowingly providing false information.
Be realistic. IGs enforce Standards, not “overturn” decisions.
Be patient. Because IGs are thorough fact finders, it may take time to get an answer.
Be prepared. IGs will give you the right answer. However, realize that you may not get the answer you want, so be prepared to hear “no”.
* We will protect your confidentiality to the greatest extent possible but cannot guarantee it completely.
